If you have registered for your exam, the next part will be the second hardest thing to do (the first is waiting for your results, just in case you were wondering) is studying for the exam. This exam will provide the certification for you to be a pharmacy technician, so it is crucial to pass this exam. As you know, studying involves books, stationery, and of course to buy all these materials, you will need money. If you are already working hard to make ends meet, sometimes sparing a dollar or two might be hard to do, let alone the cost of revision books and other study material. Luckily, there are ways to study without breaking the banks. You can try and utilize any of the examples below:
1. Go online and find out the roles of a pharmacy technician. Make sure you know the job definition and description. Read about their responsibilities, the places they would be working in, and their limitations and maybe go into online forums that discuss this job scope. Nowadays, there are online forums where pharmacy technicians can discuss their work and you can join in and perhaps get an insight of what to expect.
2. Approach your local pharmacy technician and ask if you could observe them for a day or two. They would more willing to help you when they know you are preparing for an exam and could probably assist you with any questions that you might have. Remember, 2/3 of your exam questions will be on your knowledge of assisting the lead pharmacist.
3. Form a study group either online or offline, get together with some friends that are taking the same exams and do your revisions together. Studying together stimulates the brain and improves your memory.
4. Make sure you are aware of the law that govern distribution of medication, read all you can about it as it will be part of the exam.
5. Take the online practice tests as many times as you can to familiarize yourself with the amount of time and questions that you will be having.
6. You could also talk to your seniors or again your local pharmacy technician to gain their insight on the exam. Ask them what subjects you should spend more time studying about, and which should you spend the least time. You could also ask about the most difficult part of the exam and what was their method of studying for it.
These are only some tips that you could utilize to be prepared for this exam. Make a schedule and make the time to study, so that you would have covered all the necessary subjects that might come up in the exam
